Click on the POINTER button and move the pointer into the map.

    The POINTER has 3 functions

    1. It displays detailed information in a yellow box when you slowly hover over some features.
    2. It allows you to select a feature with a single left click on your mouse, The feature when selected is highlighted and changes colour.
    3. It allows you to open a web page, linked to some features. These are indicated when the pointer changes from the arrow to a hand icon as you hover over them. By double clicking, you will open the web page.
zoom image Click on the ZOOM IN button and move into the map. Click on the map where you want to see more detail, the map will then zoom.  Once the map has rebuilt you can click again to zoom in further.

You can also zoom directly to an area of your choice by drawing a rectangle around it: Left click near your area, hold the mouse button down and move the mouse to draw a rectangle, let the mouse button go and the map will zoom to the chosen rectangle.  This is the best method, if you know where on the map you wish to look at. If you do not know where you need to look then use the Search facility ( see below ) to zoom the map to a chosen Address, Locality, Postcode or Roadname.

    search box image
      SEARCH  FACILITY
Type your search criteria into the box and then choose the category for that search by highlighting any one of the options Address, Locality, Postcode or Road Name. Click on the Go button to activate the search and the map will zoom to the search location. If there is more than one possibility from the search criteria, a dialog box will present the possibilities. Highlight your choice and click on OK.  The key to using this facility is the fact that typing less will give you more !!  Type the first few letters of the word and then click the go button. This will suffice for searching and will give you the choices in the dialog box. The address category will expect a number and then the roadname.  The Postcode search is best if you use the full postcode,  The Road Name search will produce a map zoomed to the beginning and end of that road, so the scale of the map will depend on the length of the road.
